21 February: Oxford–Padova link concert
posted 21st February 2026
On Saturday, 21 February 2026, the Junior and Senior Choirs from the Oxford Youth Choirs joined forces with the Filarmonica di Padova Youth Orchestra as part of the Oxford–Padova town twinning project.
Our Musical Director, Ben Goodall, said:
‘It was a pleasure to join forces with our friends from Italy to put together a concert of music from the stage and screen. We kicked off the concert with some of our favourite songs from a wide range of film music, including The Sound of Music, Children of Piraeus, and Matilda, with the Junior Choir and Senior Choirs performing separately and together for a rousing first half. There were some excellent solos from both Junior and Senior members. The Filarmonica di Padova Youth Orchestra performed a lovely selection of music from Italian films and by Italian composers in the second half, and our members were captivated watching them. We ended the afternoon concert with a buffet, joining together in laughter and conversation, and strengthening a fantastic relationship. I look forward to another concert in the future with our friends from Padova.’
